Rhode Island State Senator Dennis L. Algiere was presented with the League’s Legislator of the Year award on Friday. Senator Algiere, a Republican who represented District 38 including Westerly and Charlestown retired this past year after serving since 1992. He has held numerous leadership positions during his tenure and is a well respected law maker. Senator Algiere continues to be a strong advocate for the Rhode Island Fire & EMS Service and our League. He has been a longtime volunteer firefighter himself with the Westerly Fire Department. He is one of the most active drivers and a top responder each year for WFD.
Members of the Board of the Rhode Island Southern Firefighters League presented the Senator the award on Friday 9/8 at Westerly Fire Headquarters prior to their monthly board meeting as he was unable to attend the President’s dinner in June.
