The Officers and Members of the Rhode Island Southern Firefighters League wish to express their congratulations to the Washington County Fire Police Association as they mark their 10 year Anniversary this month.

The Association was formed on April 4th of 2012, when a meeting was held to discuss and approve the formation of the Washington County Fire Police Association. Twenty individuals representing five of the Southern League Fire departments attended the formation meeting.

The meeting began with a brief review of the topics and issues covered in the initial exploratory meeting followed by a review and approval of the official formation of the Washington County Fire Police Association including the adoption of bylaws and the acceptance of thirty-two members of various Southern League departments as charter members.

Membership is open to all active members of the departments that make up the Rhode Island Southern Firefighters League that are currently assigned or could possibly be assigned to fire police or traffic control type duties.

The purpose of the association is to enhance mutual aid effectiveness, develop interdepartmental relations, share fire police resources, provide educational and training opportunities, and promote regional response policies and procedures.

Please feel free to contact a League Officer for more information if you are interested in joining the Washington County Fire Police Association.
