| On June 21, the Rhode Island Southern Firefighters League held its annual President’s Dinner at Haversham in Westerly. Outgoing President Tom Reed presided over his final meeting, which included the approval of a bylaw amendment adding two positions to the League’s Board of Directors. The new positions include Immediate Past President, which will provide continuity and support during leadership transitions, and Director-at-Large for EMS, which will represent and support member agencies providing emergency medical services. At the conclusion of the evening, President Reed officially passed the leadership of the League to Richmond-Carolina Fire Chief Scott Barber. Vice President Andrew Kettle also concluded his service after several years on the board, having served as both Treasurer and Vice President. Chief Steve Pinch of the Union Fire District of South Kingstown was sworn in as the League’s new Vice President. Several guests attended the evening as well, including the Chief of EMS for the State of Rhode Island, the President of the Rhode Island State Firefighters' League, and the President of the Rhode Island Association of Fire Chiefs. In recognition of their dedication and service, Chiefs Reed and Kettle were presented with commemorative plaques by President Barber. A special election will be held in September to fill the newly created EMS Director-at-Large position. Treasurer Alex Potts, Secretary Christopher Koretski, and Director John Mackay will continue serving in their elected roles through June 2027. The Rhode Island Southern Firefighters League extends its sincere gratitude to Chiefs Reed and Kettle for their years of service and commitment to the organization. The League looks forward to the leadership of its newly elected officers as it continues its mission of supporting member departments and the communities they serve. |
